Despite a busy TV schedule with the upcoming premiere of NBC's Smash, Tony nominee Christian Borle will reprise the role of feared pirate Black Stache for the previously announced Broadway transfer of Rick Elice’s Peter and the Starcatcher, according to Variety. The Broadway mounting, to be directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, begins performances on March 28 and will open April 15 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Further casting is yet to be announced.
Borle starred in the original off-Broadway production of Peter and the Starcatcher at New York Theatre Workshop during the spring of 2011. The play, which was adapted from the Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson book of the same name, tells the story of Peter Pan’s early years, answering the century-old question: How did Peter Pan become The Boy Who Refused To Grow Up?
Christian Borle earned a Tony nomination for Legally Blonde. He made his Broadway debut in Footloose and has also appeared in Jesus Christ Superstar, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Amour, Spamalot, and Mary Poppins. On Smash Borle stars as fictional Broadway composer Tom Levitt. The series begins its run February 6.
